KICKOFF 2017

El 7 de enero del 2017, 9 miembros de XRAMS, incluyéndonos, fuimos en representación del equipo al primer evento de la competencia: el FRC Kickoff 2017. Empezando pocos minutos después de las 8:00 a.m., se nos presentó un vídeo introductorio a lo que podemos esperar encontrar en la competencia: ¿Qué tiene que hacer nuestro robot? ¿Cuáles son las reglas? ¿Cómo es la arena? ¿Qué no podemos hacer? Pero no sólo se trataba de descubrir los retos a enfrentar, sino de empezar con la construcción del robot. Terminado el vídeo, el equipo se dirigió a unos salones donde nos dieron unas cajas con partes y herramientas para comenzar el trabajo. Nos dividimos en dos: una parte dedicada a la eléctrica y otra a la mecánica. Nosotros dos estuvimos trabajando en el área eléctrica del robot. Nuestro trabajo era básicamente seguir las instrucciones presentadas en el manual para poder conectar todos los elementos eléctricos que utilizará nuestro robot. El trabajo del equipo de mecánica era armar el chasís del robot. Ambos equipos trabajamos arduamente y, con la ayuda de nuestros mentores, logramos cumplir con las tareas asignadas. Nuestra experiencia en el Kickoff fue muy buena. Después de habernos preparado por un semestre, por fin pudimos saber de lo que trataría la competencia. Además, tuvimos la oportunidad de convivir y trabajar en equipo para comenzar con la construcción de nuestro robot.

The 7th of January of 2017, 9 members of XRAMS, including us, went on behalf of our team, to the first event of the competition: the FRC Kickoff 2017. Starting a few minutes after 8:00am, a video was presented to us, its purpose was to introduce us to what we can expect of the competition: What does our robot need to do? Which were the rules? How is the arena? What are we allowed to do? But it wasn’t only about discovering the challenges that we were about to face, but also, about starting with the construction of our robot. After the end of the video, the team headed towards some classrooms where we were handed a box with parts and tools to start building our robot. We divided into two teams: one team was dedicated to the electrical part and the other one to the mechanic part. We were both working on the electrical parts of the robot. Our job was basically to follow the instructions presented in the manual, to be able to connect al the electric components that our robot is going to use. The job of the mechanic team was to build the chassis of the robot. Both teams worked hard and, with the help of our teammates and mentors, we were able to accomplish our task. Our experience in the Kickoff was good. After preparing for months, we were finally able to know what the competition was going to be about. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to spend time together and work as a team to start building our robot.
